Allegation

Pronounced: al-uh-GAY-shun


What it means: An allegation is a claim or accusation that someone says is true but hasn't been proven yet. Courts look at evidence to decide if the allegation is valid.

Example: “There was an allegation that he didn’t follow the custody agreement, but the judge needed proof.”

When it's used: At any point in the divorce when someone makes a claim that needs to be addressed.
