Expert Feature: Meredith Vandegrift, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Can you tell us a little about yourself, what you do and what led you to this line of work?
I'm a board-certified plastic surgeon, practice owner, mom, and a woman who understands that life doesn't always unfold the way we imagined. I was drawn to plastic surgery because of the extraordinary intersection between science, artistry, and human connection. What keeps me passionate about my work is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in how women feel about themselves. Plastic Surgery doesn't change who you are, it helps you feel more at home in your own skin. There is something incredibly rewarding about helping a woman feel confident, comfortable, and fully herself.
What inspired you to work with people going through divorce or big life transitions?
Going through my own divorce gave me a new perspective on how profoundly this transition can affect a woman--not just her relationships or family life, but her identity, confidence, and vision for the future. It can be a time of uncertainty, grief, and unexpected change, but it can also be the beginning of rediscovering yourself and creating a life that feels more authentically your own. Through my own experiences, I've come to believe that the end of one chapter can be the beginning of something even more meaningful.
What is your specialty within the divorce space, and how do you typically support your clients?
As a plastic surgeon, I've built a career around helping women feel more confident. But my own experience has reinforced something I've always believed: confidence is about so much more than how we look. It's about how we feel, the choices we make, and the lives we give ourselves permission to create. I'm here to support women in this transition, no matter how big or small of a small change they may be thinking about making for themselves to help get them to that place.
What makes your approach to working with clients unique?
I believe in building genuine, lasting relationships with my patients—not transactional ones. I am always open about my own journey, both professionally and personally, including my experiences in aesthetics and navigating divorce.
My approach starts with listening. I take the time to deeply understand your motivations, hesitations, and goals. From there, my role is to empower you to make choices on your own terms. Together, we focus on maintaining your confidence and well-being for the long term.
What’s one thing that people are often surprised to learn about you?
I think people are often surprised to learn that despite me being a surgeon and business owner who spends my days helping other women feel confident, I've had to navigate my own seasons of uncertainty and reinvention. My own divorce taught me that even when life looks great on the outside, we can still be figuring out who we are and what we want our next chapter to look like.
Do you have a personal story or experience that helps you connect with clients on a deeper level?
Navigating my own divorce transformed how I show up for women in transition. My goal isn't to tell you who to become, but to help you reconnect with who you’ve always been—reminding you of your strength and helping you see the possibilities ahead.
Through open, honest connection and my own lived experience, I walk alongside women through this journey. I want to show you that what feels like an ending can truly be the start of an extraordinary new beginning.
What’s your favorite way to reset after a long day?
For me, nothing beats a good meal, a great sunset, and couch snuggles with my kids or fiancé. Life can get so busy, but settling in together at the end of the day with the people I love most is my favorite way to recharge and savor the simple moments.
If you could describe your work in three words, what would they be?
Empower. Restore. Transform.
What does “fresh start” mean to you personally?
On a personal level, a fresh start means taking full ownership of your story on your own terms. It is about giving yourself—and the women you support—unconditional permission to pursue lasting confidence, true fulfillment, and deep happiness without hesitation, fear, or judgment. It is the ultimate freedom to redefine what comes next.
