A little about Barbara…
I am a licensed psychotherapist (LMFT) with over a decade of experience in helping people with their relationships, (and all of the anxiety, shame, and frustration that comes along for the ride). I am deeply interested in the way our attachment styles can follow us into marriages, dating, workplaces, friendships, the way we take care of ourselves, (or don't!) and can even follow us into our sports and passions.
I have had the pleasure of helping individuals who grip their loves (people, work etc) too tightly at times, and others who have a hard time stepping closer and increasing engagement with the people and things they hold dear.
I am deeply committed to helping my clients step away from any unhelpful shame and fear that holds them back from truly being themselves and building relationships that support wellbeing and allow for attachment repair.
In addition to practicing psychotherapy, I have taught as an Adjunct Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco) and The Wright Institute (Berkeley) in their Masters' of Counseling Psychology Programs.
Divorce can be one of the hardest times in a person's life. Navigating the divorce process alone can be far too much to bear. You may be grieving not only the loss of your best friend, but also the loss of your extended family. Divorce can make people question if they will ever find love again or ever feel truly happy again.
For some, making the decision to separate is long and torturous, but leads to relief. Others are left reeling in shock, terror and abandonment. It can take a while to rebuild and recover from a divorce, but ultimately the goal is to find yourself again, but this time stronger. From initial contemplation to post-divorce dating, I am here to help provide support at every step.
Finding the right fit in a therapist can feel overwhelming for many people. I am happy to provide a 20-minute phone consultation prior to setting up an appointment to answer questions and to ensure that your needs are in alignment with my scope of knowledge. A detailed description of my services and style can be found on my website.
MY SCOPE: I am best equipped to help individuals who are seeking to better understand their attachment style, cope with the emotional upheaval caused by separation, heal from their divorce, and gain insights and skills for re-entering the dating landscape.
I am NOT a good match for those seeking assistance with co-parenting, custody arrangements, court matters, legal advocacy, or blending families.
